This week I got braces. If you got braces when you were a kid, you might remember how sore your teeth are afterwards. Also, with the braces on, it is really hard to chew otherwise your teeth will hurt. So we had to come up with a bunch of foods that were soft so my teeth would be okay. Some of the choices were Indian Food, smoothies, and popsicles. That’s when the idea of smoothie pops came into the conversation.
Smoothie pops are just that. A combination of smoothie and popsicles. You make the smoothie any way you want. Then, instead of drinking the smoothie, you put it into the popsicle maker and put it into the freezer for a few hours. A blink of the eye and your smoothie pops are done! My favorite type of smoothie is Vanilla, peanut butter, and banana. It tastes a little more like a milkshake than a smoothie. The one that I had today was Vanilla Goji berry.
The reason why these are good right now, of course is because these are soft for my teeth. My teeth are so sensitive that I can’t even have barely toasted waffles! I cried when I ate some crackers! That is why I was so happy to have these pops!
These pops are very tasty. Also, if you are the type of person who licks pops, not eats them, these will last more than regular smoothies. That way you can savor it more and take tiny licks so it’ll last super long.
These are also perfect for a barbecue or a hot summer day. Picture that. At the pool. Sitting in a lounge chair. Eating a smoothie pop. I love it.
PROTEIN POWER POPSICLES
8 ounces non-dairy milk, like coconut milk
Small handful of goji berries
1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder (I like Orgain)
Handful of ice
* You can make all kinds of different flavors! Try substituing peanut butter for the goji berries or any other kind of fruit. If you use frozen fruit you don’t need to add ice.
Throw it all in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
Pour into popsicle maker and freeze!
