I’m in San Francisco right now with my brother and my mom and dad. We are at the ferry building and we came here to go to a bakery called Mariposa. It is a totally gluten free bakery. We got a whole bunch of things to try! Let me tell you: a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, a bear claw, a cinnamon roll and something that looked like this thing my mom used to get as a kid called a pop tart. We also got an apple pie to bring to my cousins house for Thanksgiving.
If you have been to New York or downtown L.A. and you’ve seen or been to the bakery called BabyCakes, I would say that Mariposa is even better. My mom and dad said that lots of gluten free pastries are pretty dry but we all thought these were really moist.
If you go to Mariposa my favorite things were the muffin and the bear claw so make sure to try them.

November 27, 2013 12:17 pmGamma and I guess we’re just going to have to wait for another trip to see your cousins to try these great-sounding treats. Don’t they have a Mariposa in L.A.? Maybe you should tell them to open one and you can run it in your spare time!

January 28, 2016 8:12 pmOh, oh, oh. I went to the Ferry Building and intended to stop at Mariposa’s on the way out. I got there too late! It was closed. Oh, goodness. There were soooooo many things I wanted. A bear claw and a chocolate eclair were on the top of my list. It has been YEARS since I have had either. A cinnamon roll that is light as air is a dreamy affair. I probably would have gotten one of those, too.
Sidebar: Max, here is the best sourdough bread (GF) I have ever had: SRSLY Bread out of San Francisco. (Of course, I have not tried Mariposa…) You can buy SRSLY at
