You’re not going to believe this but I’m going to share with you yet another Mexican restaurant! Playa Azul Cafe is in Santa Barbara and I LOVED it! The atmosphere was incredibly good. They had really nice signs, light fixtures, and beautiful umbrellas and flowers. And they had music which was Mexican music. I haven’t mentioned this to my parents yet but I’m starting to really like Mexican music. I like it because it kind of feels cool to me and I think I can learn it on my guitar.
The food, I thought, was very different than the other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The guacamole was a lot spicier and the beans were a different kind – whole pinto beans. The whole pinto beans were good because refried beans often have lard in them which is made from animal fat. So they did whole pinto beans so they were vegan. We also had some chips and salsa (which we always have). I thought the chips were just ok but the salsa was really good. In fact, I thought it was perfect. It tasted better than other restaurants and tasted almost like the corn and tomato salsa that my mom makes.
As we were walking out of Playa Azul I started thinking about how different this Mexican restaurant was from others and how many different flavors they can have. It was a really good choice for one of my last nights on vacation and a good and different experience.

One of the things I liked about the atmosphere is that it wasn’t right on the main drag of State Street which can be too crowded for my liking. Keep on reviewing!
