This kind of art can make you fart

Today I tried Anasazi Beans for the first time. They looked colorful and beautiful. They looked like rose petals scattered around or like speckled ovals. In fact, just like snowflakes, each one was different from another.

These beans came from HiHoe Produce at Bluebird Farms. This farm is a beautiful farm in Oregon. Chi and Michelle own the farm and they have been farming at the base of this 7,000 foot mountain for 25 years!

When you cook beans, you always soak them before you cook them. Then you boil them and it’s that easy. Here you can see how simple it is to soak beans:

To me, the beans tasted just like pinto beans…at first. Then I said “these also taste like refried beans, mom.” And she said “well, refried beans are made from pinto beans!” So I guess they do taste like pinto beans!

You can see that the color of the Anasazi beans changed a lot when they were cooked. They changed from a really “mad” color bean to a “calm” bean. This is funny because in art today I learned that colors can be like feelings. For another example, dark purple is mad and light blue is calm. Usually a mad color color goes well with a calm color, like dark purple and light yellow. If they are paired together they really get noticed and are like “whoa, we really stick out!” But if a calm color goes with another calm color they are like “hi, we are both calm colors. We don’t really stick out, but we are cool.”

It’s funny how food can sometimes be like art.

It’s not the art that makes you fart! It’s the beans. But, yes, food can be a form of art. : )

They are like snowflakes! Every one is special and unique. I think they taste pretty good, but look prettier yet. Pinto is my favorite, so for me, nothing beats a pinto! There are so many beans in the world to taste!
