Something disappointing turned into something good

Two days ago I went to a Japanese tea garden in golden gate park. We were going to go in but the line was too long. After discussing this for a minute or two we decided to skip it. I felt bad, so… A day later, after we went to the children’s creativity museum, we went to Samovar Tea Lounge in Yerba Buena Gardens. My mom had made a reservation so we got right in with no waiting.

My mom ordered the Indian Tea which came with tea and a bowl of vegetable curry and basmati rice. My dad ordered the Chinese Tea which came with tea and another bowl with rice, vegetables, and dumplings.

Me and my brother both ordered the ginger and quinoa waffle which came with fresh fruit and maple syrup. I also ordered cacao peppermint tea. I let my mom try a bite of my waffle and drink of my tea and she thought mine was incredible. Actually she thought this whole place was incredible.

When we were seated at the table, we were talking about our favorite moments of the trip. Me, my brother and my mom all said that so far this was our favorite meal of the whole trip. My mom was very surprised because I was savoring every bite of my waffle. I was eating it super slowly which is not normal for me! My mom said that she could really taste the chocolate flavor of the tea but I couldn’t taste it. But I still loved it. It was good and different from many other teas I’ve had.

Also, as you can see in the picture I posted I thought the lights on the ceiling were incredibly decorative. They were huge and I don’t often see circle shaped lights like that with many cool designs and patterns inside. Also you can see the big tea jars on the back wall. The restaurant had a cool look to it.

As we were leaving the tea place, some bad news happened. When we got back to the car my dad noticed he had left his back pack in the restaurant. He sprinted back to get it and luckily he got it before someone stole it.

We went home feeling tired but happy. I told my mom I had to go back to that tea place before we leave again!

Max, Wow! That place sounds fabulous. What a concept–the tea matched to the meal. I love it. The food looked yummy, too.
