What a weekend…what a meal…

I have really wanted to share this with you all week.  Last weekend I got to go to Indian Wells to see the BNP Paribas Open.  This was my first tennis tournament I have ever been to.  Since I am a professional blogger I got a special credential and it allowed me to visit the players restaurant.  Only players, their relatives and special guests can go to the players club.  Here I am getting my credential:

I also got to go on the tennis channel set after the matches were done and get the players’ autographs.  At first I felt really nervous to ask for their autographs but after I did it a few times I got comfortable.  I got many different autographs but in this post I want to show you three players I got to meet.  They are Kei Nishikori, Victoria Azarenka, and John Isner.  They were all really nice and cool.  John Isner was sooooo tall! He was like five of me! For real, he is 6′ 10″ tall! Meeting Kei Nishikori was also really special because I am a big fan of his. And I liked meeting Victoria Azarenka also because she is one of the top tennis players.  She is ranked 49 but most people think she should be ranked in the top 10.  I think she is as good as Maria Sharapova.

Enough about tennis and now to the food! I looked around the players restaurant and there were different food stations to choose from.  I finally decided on gluten free penne with olives and broccoli and also some vegetable sushi.  The broccoli was crisp which I liked. Usually restaurants make it a little too soft.  The olives were just as good as the broccoli.  Me and my dad both thought the sushi was better than any other sushi we have had.  Even just with the avocado and cucumbers it tasted fresh, as if the avocados had just come from the tree and the cucumber from the garden.

After lunch I turned my attention to the juice bar.  After a hard decision about what to get, I got an acai smoothie but substituting pitaya.  It tasted very sweet and I don’t usually like things that are too sweet.  But this one I did like.  Usually when I have sweet things they have that sweet taste for a really long time but this one had a sweet taste but then it left my mouth and was just refreshing.

When I came home on Sunday afternoon I was sad that I left Indian Wells because I had such a fun time.  But I was glad to be in my own bed because I was so tired from staying up so late all weekend.  But I can’t wait to go again next year!

Hi Max. Wow that was surely a fabulous looking adventure. I really liked all the pictures, especially the one of you and the fellow in blue. The angle, the fact that you were wearing blue…the crowd in the background. I think that one needs to be framed! There was a sense of motion and excitement conveyed. I used to live in Palm Desert. I really liked it when I was there and all my family lives in that area. It is a nice place to visit. I really miss dates and grapefruit, and of course my family! I am glad you got to attend such a fun event.
