I had spent several hours today with a babysitter and was going places all day. And this was after spending the last two days in Baltimore, Maryland. I sure was tired and I wanted something good to eat tonight. I wanted Indian food at first but I kinda wanted to get my favorite food so we decided to go to Rosa Mexicano. This is located on Columbus and 62nd street in Manhattan.
My mom told me if we went to the Indian place we would be sure to get a seat but if we went to the Mexican place they might or might not have a table. My Aunt Lauren was meeting us for dinner. We walked inside…and yes! There was a TV! And the Cavaliers were playing! But…no!!! Our table was nowhere near the television. I made a face at my mom and she made a face right back!
We went upstairs and my mom went “oh, no, we forgot to ask if the rice and beans are vegetarian.” Me and my brother were like “uh-oh.” When you go to Mexican restaurants the beans often have lard in them and the rice has chicken stock. So it is good to ask. The first guy said he would double check and then our waiter came over and told us it was good. I literally said “you saved my life!” I ordered what I order at every Mexican restaurant: a side of rice and bkack beans, six corn tortillas and guacamole. It was really cool because they actually come over to your table and make the guacamole right in front of you. Here is the guy making ours:
The beans were very different from other beans. Usually you can see the beans but these beans were mashed. I actually liked the taste even better. The corn tortillas actually smelled like corn which is unusual. Maybe they used more corn in the ingredients. All in all it was a 10 out of 10 on a scale of 1 being horrible and 10 being amazing.
My mom had the farmers market vegetabke tacos. She was excited about it because usually you dont get those kinds of vegetables in tacos. The veggies had roasted cauliflower, squash, mushrooms, and peppers. She thought it was yummy. It looked really fancy.
As we were leaving the restaurant my mom told us to look at the wall. It had water flowing down the wall and there were mini sculptures of divers diving into the water. I hope you can see it in this photo:
When we were leaving the restaurant me, my brother, my mom and my aunt were all talking about how we were so full we wish we had a bed on wheels or that could fly us back to the hotel. We could hardly move.
I recommend Rosa Mexicano for people – if you are prepared to hobble home afterwards.
