I bet you think Halloween is amazing, right??? Well, I do too. And the best part should be eating the candy! But I could not eat half of the candy because of my allergies to gluten and dairy. The other half I could not eat because of the nasty artificial flavors and stuff like that. Check out my rant about it:
So my mom and dad had this great idea of taking me to a candy store. And not just any candy store. The store was called A Real Treat Candy Boutique and it is on Main Street in Santa Monica. Here is what it looks like in front:
The owner of this store, Vanessa, started the store about two years ago. When she was a little kid she loved candy. But when she became a mom and her daughter also liked sweet things, she started investigating what was in candy. Lately I have been reading a lot of mysteries so I found it interesting that she was acting like a detective. She discovered that all of these candies had really bad stuff ingredients that were not good for people’s bodies. So she decided to start this store.
This candy store is way better than other candy stores because there are NOooooooo chemicals! Obviously eating too much candy isn’t healthy, but everybody needs a treat once in a while and especially around Halloween! And A Real Treat is a good choice for healthier candy.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the inside of this store. My dad caught my reaction on video:
First, I saw gluten free, vegan gumballs. There were lots of colors and the lady helped me get the one I wanted. After chewing the gumball for a while my mom realized that I had just had spacers put in to get ready for braces and I wasn’t supposed to chew gum. Oops! So I moved on to the chocolate section. I had a little mini almond butter cup covered in chocolate. This was incredible. After the chocolate melted in my mouth the almond butter came through with a POW! Sooooo good. Then I had a peppermint chocolate bar. It was probably the best chocolate bar in my life, hands down. It was a really delightful little treat. After all this tasting it was time to pick some goodies to take home. I picked ten hard candies for me and my brother to share and a raspberry chocolate bar. I can’t wait to eat this goodness.
And, great news for my readers! We got in touch with the owner of the store and she is offering 10% off just for readers of my blog. Between now and January 1, 2016 you can shop online or in the store and grab your discount. Just enter TGFK during your check-out process on the website at www.arealtreat.com or if shopping in-store just mention “The Gluten Free Kid” before you pay! Don’t forget to let me know what you get and how it tasted!
