Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day holiday! Since it was Memorial Day, we had Monday off of school. I never actually knew what Memorial Day was really about until my grandpa asked me if I knew what it meant. Memorial Day celebrates and honors the people who were killed in service to our country. I am deeply affected by sad things, and when something unfortunate happens, those thoughts get stuck in my mind. So I am glad we have a holiday to honor those people because it is the right thing to do.
Back to what I said about having Monday off, I actually got last Friday off too. So that means I had a four day weekend! The reason I had Friday off was because of an all school camping trip. Cool, right? The camping trip was awesome. Stick with me. I’m about to blow your mind. Check out my gluten free haul of food. The first dinner I had were two veggie dogs, pickles, potato chips, and four whole ears of corn. Then I had two chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Next morning for breakfast I feasted on four pancakes, two bowls of oatmeal, and two glasses of hot chocolate. Then for lunch I ate two servings of pasta and four pieces of garlic bread. Then, for dinner I ate four burritos that had refried beans, cheese, guacamole, salsa, lettuce, corn and onions. Chips and guacamole were included. For dessert I ate s’mores. Afterward, for breakfast, I ate two servings of eggs, two full bagels, a glass of orange juice, and two glasses of hot chocolate. Then…I skipped lunch.
So, you might think by the time of our Memorial Day Barbecue I wouldn’t be able to eat a thing. But if you read my blog you know I am a hungry eating machine. Organic Sunshine Burgers are one of my favorite things to have at barbecues.
I like the South West Black Bean burgers that they make. When they are all put together these veggie burgers are really pretty. With red tomato, green lettuce, yellow mustard and white onion it is really colorful. Add a gluten free bun and you have a really big mouthful of delicious food.
I really like this brand of veggie burger because they don’t mash up all the black beans so when you bite into it you still get some whole black beans and the taste really comes through. I also like that these burgers don’t fall apart because the texture is soft but not so soft as to crumble apart. The ingredients are really, really good. It’s all organic and there are 10 grams of protein in one veggie burger.
Chow down!
