About four months ago, my dad bought these new veggie burgers from the store. They were called Hilary Burgers. The Southwest burgers I reviewed in another post were really good, but this was on a level of its own. First my dad just got the plain, but soon we discovered there were other flavors too. The one I am reviewing today is the Black Rice flavor.
Since this brand was named Hilary, and we were nearing the time of the Presidential Election, my grandparents (when they were here) and I called them Clinton Burgers. And my vote is that you will love these.
My grandmother especially enjoyed them. The only thing about them that wasn’t great, was that there were only 2 burgers in each box. I could have kept eating more and more. This burger is gluten, dairy, soy, corn, egg, and nut free. It is also all organic.
These burgers are especially delicious because inside there are little pieces of beans that add a little crunch at the end. The burger itself is delicate and soft and you can really taste the ingredients. Rice, beans, and veggies is a really delicious combination, especially in the middle of a burger. These burgers aren’t just good on buns with cheese either, the are good between two pieces of bread or on top of lettuce as a salad. There are plenty of ways to enjoy this delicious burger.
What really surprised me was the ingredient list. There were 210 milligrams of sodium and 110 milligrams of potassium. Did you know that some people say it is ok to eat 1200 milligrams of sodium a day, but you should only have 12 grams of sugar? Sometimes I eat more sugar than that alone in my breakfast if I’m having certain granola or cereal which I know is not good! And if you eat dessert a lot then don’t even think about it! However, if you did want to try to stick to those requirements you would have to eat a lot of oatmeal, salad, vegtables, etc. Anyway, it isn’t like you have to eat that way. But you would probably just live a lot longer than other people if you did.
Excuse the tangent, please. Anyway, Hilary’s is also verified by the NON GMO project and that was one of the stations at the ShiftCon conference I went to. So I learned all about it and every product I have eaten that the NON GMO project verified, I have loved. But this I absolutely loved.
I would encourage you to try this product, whether you have allergies or not, because this is not good food. This is great food.

February 1, 2017 8:15 amOkay, so I’m reading the list of ingredients — which you so thoughtfully included! — when I see that the burgers are made in Lawrence, KS. That’s the home of Kansas University and less than an hour from my home which is within blocks of the Kansas-Missouri state line! Aunt Alison is speaking to the law faculty at KU in March. She was reared “on the Kansas side,” and is looking forward to reconnecting with her roots — and seeing me! I’ll let you know our favorite, good-in-EVERY-way eatery!
