Organic mexican food to make your mouth water

Tocaya Organica Mexican Restaurant in Santa Monica is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at.  Let me just say that right off the bat.  Not one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to before, but one of the best pure restaurants I’ve been to.

It was Friday night, and me, my mom, and my brother did not feel like eating out so we ordered in.  We had the food delivered.  I don’t know how they get it to you as fast as they do, because sometimes it takes longer to get your food at the actual restaurant than it does to just order it and have it show up.  I wonder if they stock up the cars with every possible thing someone could order so they are ready to just have it at your door although, after a while, I guess the car would smell and I don’t know how they would be able to fit all that food in the car.  So I really still don’t know how it gets here so fast.

We think this restaurant is pretty new because we had never seen it before but as soon as my mom did she told me about it.  She knew I would be excited about it.  Mexican food.  Organic food.  Vegan and vegetarian dishes.  We had to try it.

I was practically starving so I ordered this combination dish that came with two tacos and two sides.  For my tacos, I had them Barrio style – one with scrambled eggs and the other with their vegan meat product.  Both of them had vegan cheese.  My two sides were Spanish rice and sweet corn. My brother had almost the same thing although one of his tacos had tofu in it and he had a sweet potato hash on the side with his corn.

My mom ordered a bowl.  It was called the Muscle Bowl.  Of course I had to try hers too and me and my brother wound up eating half her dinner.  I loved hers almost as much as my own.  It was my kind of thing. Rice, Beans, Guacamole, Salsa, and Vegan Tempeh Bacon, filled her bowl from bottom to top.  Mms!

There is no way to describe how good the food was.  Superior.  Incredible.  INCREDIBLY UNBELIEVABLY EXTRAORDINARILY SUPERIOR.  The tacos had just the right mixture of different flavors and textures. When you are tasting food, the best situation is that a delicious bite calls for each and every flavor to be highlighted in some way – and this dish more than met my expectations on the flavor front.  From the creamy avocado to the sweet and crunchy corn my taste buds were screaming for more.  At the end of the meal I asked my mom” Hey, Mom, can go here for lunch tomorrow?” To put it simply that is how much I loved this place.  And next time I’ll go check the actual restaurant out.  I think this is going to be on my “regular” list!

It’s just after 6AM as I’m reading this blog — a bit too early for Mexican, but your description and the gorgeous photos made my mouth water! Are they open for breakfast?! 🙂 Thanks so much!
