Falafel chips … yes, I said falafel chips …

I’ve reviewed corn dippers and tortilla chips, but today a new type of chip has come to my attention and I want to share it with you.  Falafel chips. If you eat a lot of falafel, rice, grilled vegetables, hummus, then this chip is for you.  I eat these a lot and you can take them to school because they have no nuts or seeds inside them.  The brand name is flamous, but my mom kept thinking it was famous.  It is made with 21 herbs and spices.

Middle Eastern cuisine has a lot of food I like.  It lands on the #4 spot on my list of cuisines though, behind Mexican, Thai, and Italian.  That is pretty high praise considering how much I love those other types of food.

The bag this chip comes in is sort of like those bags you when you pick from a restaurant.  It is like a normal bag, only the top is rolled down a bit so you can fit a clip on it.   The chip itself has a rounded shape and the texture is hard.  My mom and I were talking about it and decided we could really taste the spice flavors of turmeric and could also taste the peppers.  A lot of times when you taste chips you can’t taste the individual flavors but in this chip they really come through.

To be honest though I’m not convinced that these really taste just like a falafel.  These chips taste more like something between a flavorful cracker and a tortilla chip.  But that’s ok with me because I liked them by themselves and also with a dip.  It is really delicious with hummus and you can see in the picture that that is how I am eating it then. You can also eat these with other dips like salsa and guacamole.

This is a really great chip and you can get it at Whole Foods but we looked online and saw you can get these at Ralphs grocery store also.  If you like falafels try this chip but even if you don’t like Middle Eastern Cuisine, you will probably still like this chip so give it a try.  It’s a good way to get some protein in because of the chickpeas and if you add hummus on top you are really getting a serious protein kick into your day.
