Try these party food ideas and tips!

Hey guys! This saturday it was my mom’s birthday, so we threw a surprise party for her.  She said this year she just wanted to celebrate with family so we invited a few family friends and family members and went to work.  My brother made the confetti that we were going to throw all over her, and I cleaned the house and set up the tv.

My gramma got the food ready that was chips and salsa, carrots celery and hummus, and her special pasta called slop and then a pie and cheesecake were made and bought by my nanny.

When my mom came inside, we totally freaked my mom out.  We hid behind counters and jumped out at her she actually screamed!  Then we put-on animal planet and watched a little polar bear get immobilized while we snacked on the chips and salsa and carrots and hummus.  Then we ate the slop and I gave myself the plate with a lot of cheese.  Then we tried the pie my babysitter made.  We gave her an a+ for effort!  The pie wasn’t really that good.  The dough was not cooked!

Then we gave her our presents.  My brother gave something he made in art at school, my gramma and aunt gave her matching dish cloths and towels, and I told her I was writing a song for her on the guitar but it wasn’t ready yet. I didn’t know if I was going to write it about her, dedicate it to her, or write about the things she likes.  But I’m working on it.

Then we talked for a bit, and everybody went home. My mom had had a great birthday.  So what am I reviewing today?  Nothing.  Today I am going to give you some suggestions of what to serve at a party (specifically a surprise party).

Number 1- serve food a lot of people like and can eat

Number 2- put a lot of it out because people will EAT it

Number 3- if the person lives in your house find a good hiding place for the food or they will find it

Number 4- don’t eat everything because people will get mad at you

On my blog you can find my recipe for my grandma’s slop here.  Some other popular foods I wrote about that could be good for a party would be hot pretzels or these corn dippers.  On the dessert side you might want to try these scrumptious chocolate chip cookies.

Anyway, the party was great, and if you have a surprise party, and you use any of my tips, make sure to let me know.  This is Max, signing off.  Bye!

What a great post! Your mom was REALLY surprised. Maybe we should do it again – in about 5 years when she’s forgotten this one.

I’ve asked Grandma Nancy to see if she can russel me up sone of thise CC Cookies (maybe with some chocolate chip ice cream to go with them!)! Papa

Did you point out to your Mom that this is the last year (of four) that she’ll have a new age where the second digit exactly doubles the first, just as it will the FIRST year for YOU?

    What a great post, Max!!
It’s a wonderful “slice” of life — even if the crust is under-cooked! So Momma is 48, eh? Doesn’t look a day over 35 — that’s what clean living and healthy eating can do for you!
Thanks for all the party tips — especially the one about hiding the food. I’ve never found a place yet that Ellen couldn’t discover, but I keep trying! 🙂
